While the Blackchrome team work tirelessly to deliver orders on time all over Australia, across the Tasman Sea the Blackchrome brand is beginning to get noticed. This is largely due to Townsville local and Christchurch resident and Blackchrome Ambassador Sandra Callanan. A passionate and enthusiastic cyclist, Sandra’s insight into New Zealand’s cycling community has allowed Blackchrome to design and provide a quality kit that all cyclists can enjoy.
Sandra first linked up with Blackchrome after the 2015 edition of the Townsville to Cairns Bike Ride which Blackchrome supplied the jerseys for. Sandra is heavily involved with the ride that usually raises around $300,000 for the Children’s Cancer Institute and with the ride coming into its 18th year, Blackchrome will be supplying the entire kit for the ride, including jerseys, knicks, polo shirts, caps and socks for the 370 registered riders.
The three day ride that commences on the 28th of July is open to riders of all levels and has 15 different speed groups ranging from 15 to 35km/h. Sandra has been dedicated to encouraging all riders to support the cause and take on the challenge of the ride.
‘The ride caters for all skill levels and cycling experience, it is for anyone wants to support the cause or just want to tick it off their bucket list’ she said.
While some locals have been participating in a training group every week, Sandra has been doing her own preparation and making sure her bum is saddle ready for the event.
‘I don’t recommend getting a new saddle the day before the ride’ she joked.
In her ambassador role with Blackchrome Sandra has been acting as the eyes and ears of the brand over in New Zealand and paving the way for Blackchrome to enter the cycling community. It is a sport that the country is seemingly built for as the weather makes it possible to cycle in some shape or form all year round.
For Sandra it has been a pleasant experience wearing her Blackchrome kit around Christchurch and often being asked where she got it from. Much of her contact is with Blackchrome’s passionate cycling guru Travis Eddie who is constantly delivering exciting new designs for Sandra to showcase. Together they have set out to discover what cyclists want and need in their perfect cycling kit.
Whether it is road cycling, mountain biking or adventure riding the potential for Blackchrome to grow its customer base in New Zealand is there, and is growing through the positive word spread by Sandra.
